Step 2: 15 Minutes

To make your benefit and pension elections you must register yourself on the Shell Benefits Centre (SBC). You will receive an e-mail notification during your first week of employment with Shell with instructions on the self registration process and how to access the SBC. Once you have access to the SBC make your benefit and pension elections.

Important: Shell Canada Pension Plan

If you participate in Initial Defined Contribution (Initial DC) when you join the Shell Canada Pension Plan, your voluntary contribution percentage is automatically set at 4% of pensionable earnings so you get the maximum Shell contribution. You may change this contribution percentage through the SBC at any time.

Important: Health and Dental

If you do not elect your Health and Dental plans within 45 days after your first day of employment with Shell, you will be automatically placed into Health Spending Account Plus – Employee Only coverage and will not be able to change your coverage level until the next enrollment period. Enrollment takes place every other fall for the two-year coverage period beginning January 1 of the next odd numbered year.

You will also find the Shell Canada Health and Dental Options Model on the SBC. This interactive calculator can help you decide which health and dental plans are right for you and your family.
