Shell has a long history in the Inglewood community, dating back to the 1950s. The current Lube and Grease (L&G) Plant has been a part of Inglewood’s community since 1982.
As Shell's only grease manufacturing facility in North America, we are committed to producing quality products consistent with Shell's commitment to sustainable development. Calgary L&G is both ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 registered and we follow comprehensive health, safety and environment standards which are audited by both Shell and external certified organizations.
Calgary L&G is an active member of the Inglewood community. In 2003 Shell provided a $5,000 Shell Environmental Fund grant to the Inglewood Wildlands program in support of environmental education. Employees also volunteer annually for the Bow River Clean Up project.
In 2006, the Garden Path Society received $3,500 from the Shell Environmental Fund for a new greenhouse.
In 2007, the plant contributed $10,000 to support construction of new playground equipment in Nellie Breen Park.
In 2006, our fundraising combined with the contributions of all Calgary-area Shell employees and retirees and the company's matching funds raised more than $3.6 million for the United Way of Calgary and Area.
