Shell Canada is seeking creative Canadians to share their experience of a lifetime for a chance to win $25K to help make it a reality. As the Energy 4 Seven Billion campaign approaches the midway mark hundreds of Canadians have shared their own experience of a lifetime. The competition, which runs until September 30, challenges Canadians to think of a dream experience, initiative or project and how energy helps make it possible. The $25,000 winner will be the one person with the most creative and innovative idea that clearly demonstrates how energy is needed to make it happen.

Canadians, excluding Quebecois, can simply go to www.shell.ca/e47b and describe in 500 words or less their dream energy experience and how energy would play a role in making it happen, including how it can be done most efficiently. Participants then share their idea on their Facebook page and invite family and friends to “like” their experience. The top 10 most “liked” ideas will be finalists and judged by a panel of energy experts to determine the Grand Prize winner. The other 9 finalists will each receive a runner-up prize.

”Canadians have been putting on their creative caps, with submissions ranging from educational, humanitarian and cultural experiences, just to name a few,” says Tanya Ristoff, Shell Senior Communications Advisor. “Many are also related to travel, or helping fund a unique invention or an environmental project.”

Entries can be based on a dream experience for one individual, or it could be for a family or even a broader community. Whether it’s a bringing a family together, traveling the world, or a home renovation Shell Canada wants to help make it a reality for one lucky winner. The contest closes Sept. 30, with the winner to be announced later in the Fall, so there’s still time to enter.

Shell Canada’s operations produce enough energy to meet the world’s demand for oil for more than four minutes each day. This challenge is designed to help Canadians make a connection to the unexpected ways in which energy touches their daily lives.

“The challenge is to get people thinking about how energy plays a role in their daily lives. We’ve been really impressed with the submissions so far,” says Ristoff. “It’s great to see all the creative ideas how people would spend the money.”

“We are lucky to have ready access to the energy we need in Canada, but how often do we consider where that energy comes from, and how we’re using it? Based on the Twitter and Facebook conversations, we are seeing Canadians take an interest in learning more about this important Canadian resource.”

With just under seven weeks left, there is still time to enter to win an experience of a lifetime. To find out more, visit www.shell.ca/e47b.
