I was recruited by Shell Canada for an eight-month work term, as a Project Analyst in the Infrastructure Program and Project Management group. I worked directly on IT communication projects pertaining to the Exploration and Production part of the business.
Co-op Students are seen as valuable employees to Shell Canada. The company demonstrates this by recruiting co-op students for roles, where they are involved in important projects and day-to-day operations. I played an intricate role in coordinating and implementing the Asset Refresh and VoIP (voice over IP) rollout at the Muskeg River Mine (Albian Sands), as well as many other projects. My experience at Shell Canada supplemented my skill sets.
Training opportunities are around every bend with Shell Canada. Shell provides courses to bestow their employees with the proper skill sets to get the job done. Shell Canada’s view on work/life balance, displays their commitment to the employee’s life outside of the office as well as the business.
I would recommend a Shell Canada co-op term to any student looking for valued work, and great industry experience.
