Ryan Minkus - Geologist

Shell Canada’s integration process for new full-time employees was extremely organized and welcoming, allowing me to easily obtain helpful answers to the many questions I had as a new employee.

My name is Ryan Minkus and I am a geologist for Basin Centred Gas within Shell Canada’s Unconventional Gas Department. I graduated with a MSc. in geology from the University of Calgary and was selected for full-time employment based on my previous work as a summer student at Shell. My campus recruiter was a friendly and knowledgeable senior geologist who made my employment choice effortless.

Shell Canada’s Unconventional Gas Department is a quickly growing business that offers many exciting challenges for new geologists. I am currently involved in operations geology, which not only deals with the geological aspects of our tight-gas play, but the full spectrum of day-to-day activity involved in planning, drilling, and operating wells in an isolated location while maintaining a minimal environmental footprint.

Shell Canada offers new technical staff a salary and benefit structure that is highly competitive in today’s increasingly demanding job market. Furthermore, the comprehensive training program for new graduates is second-to-none, offering both international travel and a structured mentorship program. Shell is a company that I am proud to work for and I believe it is an excellent choice for both scientific and career-minded individuals.
