Shell offers the opportunity for you to build future financial security. Through a combination of plans and special features, you have the flexibility to actively manage your savings and retirement benefits. We offer a contemporary, highly competitive and flexible benefits package including an annual health spending account and an optional employee share purchase plan with generous employer contributions.

Our competitive salaries reflect both the market conditions in Canada and the levels of skills and experience we need to remain at the forefront of our industry. Individual contributions are recognized and rewarded through performance-related pay and bonuses.

  • Work-Life Balance

Shell understands and respects the importance of both work and personal life. That’s why we’ve made – and are continuing to make – changes in the workplace that make it easier for you to achieve balance in your life, such as alternative work schedules, paid holidays, flex time and employee assistance programs for elder and child care issues. We also accommodate career breaks and sabbaticals where possible.

  • Career Development

Shell recognizes that the broader and more advanced your skills and knowledge, the greater your personal success and your ability to contribute to the Company’s success. Shell understands the value employees place on continued learning, development and personal growth. Because of this, we offer valuable educational resources as part of your benefits package and employment, including company provided training and educational reimbursement.  On average, graduate employees at Shell spend 15 days a year in off the job training.

For Shell, investing in your development is as important as investing in new business opportunities and technologies.  When you start with Shell you will be eligible for the following career development programs:

    Shell Life

Shell Life is an ‘Onboarding to Leadership Development’ program focusing solely on graduates who have been working in the company for 6-24 months. As the first program in Leadership Development’s suite of Learning Programs for Shell Leaders, it aims to provide graduates with the skills, knowledge and behaviours to think and act as effective leaders throughout their career.

  • Community Service

Shell takes great pride in the communities where we live and work. We support our employees’ contributions to the community by providing paid time off work to volunteer with United Way Days of Caring™ events, and through financial support to not-for-profit organizations where Shell people regularly volunteer.

  • Scholarships for Students

Shell has invested millions of dollars in universities, colleges and technical schools across Canada. Our goal is to support innovative post-secondary education, strengthen programs and engage students. As future leaders of our company and our country, it is important for students to have diverse and interactive learning opportunities, helping them think beyond traditional boundaries. The Awards Office at your university or college can tell you about the scholarships available at your school.

In addition, Shell established scholarships and bursaries with the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation (NAAF) for Aboriginal students from communities near Shell’s operations. We also support NAAF’s Oil and Gas Trades and Technology Bursary Program to provide financial assistance to Aboriginal students in Alberta who are pursuing careers in the oil & gas industry.  To find out more or apply for the NAAF scholarships and bursaries visit www.naaf.ca - opens in new window.
