Shell Canada and media partners open conversation on innovation

20 Dec 2011

Energy is integral to our lifestyle and economy. The National Post announces FP Energy: a new content initiative on this key topic, by the Financial Post in association with Shell Canada.

At Shell, our focus is the future of energy. We are always working on new and creative solutions to the challenge of powering our world, and that's a conversation we want every Canadian to be a part of.

Lorraine Mitchelmore, President and Country Chair of Shell Canada

The print, digital and mobile program will be complemented by a related broadcast feature with CBC’s Dragons’ Den.

"Uniting the trusted brands of the Financial Post and CBC’s Dragons’ Den with the established thought leadership of Shell Canada creates a unique opportunity to educate and engage Canadians on this critical issue,'' says Douglas Kelly, Publisher of the National Post.

As one of the country's most experienced and influential voices in the energy sector, Shell Canada brings a unique viewpoint to FP Energy. Shell's focus on innovation, efficiency and better energy management has made it a leader in the field, and FP Energy brings this wealth of knowledge and insight to the public.

This program will be deployed across the country on multiple platforms. At the centre is the FP Energy channel on financialpost.com and a weekly page in the Financial Post, also featured across the Postmedia Network chain of newspapers. Under the first phase starting in January 2012, FP Energy will examine five energy topics with articles and columns from the FP reporting team, plus submissions from leading Canadian business schools, industry experts, public interest groups and government. The content will focus on energy policy and address issues facing both consumers and the industry.

A key component of the program is the Live Energy Salon: an online home for policy debate where readers can interact with industry experts and Financial Post journalists. Fully integrated with social media, the Salon will give all interested parties a chance to share and discuss their ideas in a public forum.

By leveraging the reach of the Postmedia Network and its extensive presence in the print, digital and mobile spaces, FP Energy aims to become Canada's top source for energy information, analysis and discussion.
