Oil Products

Our Oil Products business makes, moves and sells a range of petroleum-based products around the world for domestic, industrial and transport use. As part of our commitment to sustainability, it is developing lower-carbon fuels and working towards increasing our own and our customers’ energy efficiency.

Manufacturing

Our global refining portfolio includes interests in more than 40 refineries, and has a total capability of processing more than four million barrels of crude oil per day. Some 45% of our refining capacity is in Europe, 25% in North America, 25% in Asia Pacific, and 5% in Latin America and Africa.

Supply and Distribution

Oil Products acquires and delivers feedstocks and finished products to Shell’s businesses and customers around the world. Our network includes 300 distribution facilities and nearly 2,500 storage tanks in some 50 countries; 9,000 kilometres of pipeline; and a fleet of nearly 7,000 Shell-owned or contracted vehicles.

Retail

With around 45,000 service stations, Shell has the world’s largest single-branded fuel retail network

Shell’s Retail business operates in more than 90 countries. Our differentiated fuels are sold in more than 60 countries under the V-Power brand and are designed to improve performance. They contain special formulations, including high levels of detergent that clean engines.

Lubricants

Shell is the global leader in branded lubricants and the largest marketer of lubricants with 13% of the global lubricants market in volume terms - up from 12% in 2006.*

Our products are available in around 120 countries and comprise some of the biggest selling lubricants brands in both global and individual markets, including Shell Helix, Pennzoil, Shell Rotella, Shell Rimula, Quaker State and Tongyi in China.

Oil Products also sells fuels and speciality products to a broad range of commercial customers.

Shell Aviation

Shell Aviation markets aviation fuels and lubricants and operates airport fuelling systems. It supplies more than 880 airports in around 70 countries, refuelling a plane every 12 seconds.

Shell Marine Products

We supply fuels and around 100 types of lubricants to a range of vessels from ocean-going ships to small fishing boats in more than 70 countries.

Shell Gas (LPG)

Shell Gas (LPG) markets liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a clean-burning and convenient fuel. It supplies products to more than 30 million domestic, commercial and industrial customers. We work with 3,500 distributors in more than 30 countries.

Commercial Fuels

Commercial Fuels provides transport, industrial and heating fuels to more than 750,000 customers worldwide. Each year, Shell Commercial Fuels supplies the equivalent of 11 litres of fuel for every person on earth.

Shell Bitumen

Shell Bitumen supplies 15,000 tonnes of products every day to 1,600 customers in 35 countries, enough to resurface 500 kilometres of road every 24 hours.

Shell Sulphur Solutions

Shell Sulphur Solutions develops and delivers sulphur products which provide innovative uses for sulphur, as well as helping to meet social and environmental development needs.

Future Fuels and CO2

Future Fuels and CO2 is responsible for accelerating the technical and commercial development of biofuels, X-to-liquid fuels (synthetic fuels made from gas, and potentially biomass that are cleaner burning than conventional fuel) and hydrogen. It is also responsible for leading energy conservation and CO2 management activities across Shell.
