This report represents Shell’s third oil sand performance report and covers six key areas: safety and emergency preparedness, CO2; water; tailings; land and reclamation; and people, communities and engagement. This year, the report has been expanded to include performance data for safety and to report on Shell’s emergency response preparation.
Shell’s Oil Sands Performance Report plays an important part in our continuing dialogue with governments, industry, environmental groups, community stakeholders, Aboriginal Peoples and the public about our oil sands mining, in situ and upgrading operations. Transparent reporting of performance is among the ways Shell is striving to respond to stakeholders as the company takes further steps to improve the overall management of oil sands operations.
