The Energy Diet Challenge – a partnership with Canadian Geographic

Energy Diet Challenge with Canadian Geographic

The Classroom Energy Diet Challenge - Teaching students about energy use

Shell Canada and Canadian Geographic designed this three-year educational partnership to engage Canadians in energy conservation. The challenge is for everyone to reduce energy use through knowledge, innovation and action in order to shape a new energy future.

The second phase of the energy diet is the Classroom Energy Diet in which more than 200 classrooms across Canada compete for a number of prizes. Divided into two streams –the Classroom Challenge and Video Contest— the Classroom Energy Diet is curriculum-based and designed to teach students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 about where energy comes from, its impact on our global society, making smarter energy-use choices and alternative sources of energy that exist.

As a major energy producer Shell is committed to education about energy production and responsible energy consumption. Over the course of the Challenge guest bloggers will share tips and strategies on simple ways to reduce energy consumption.

Students, teachers and parents can track individual classrooms as they complete the challenge.
