Environment
We contribute to environmental initiatives through our support of environmental enhancement and protection projects through Shell FuellingChange, and our partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
While the most significant opportunities we bring to local communities are those directly related to our operations (such as the provision of employment and stimulation of the local economy) we also contribute to the general wellbeing of the community and the broader publics who grant our license to operate.
Since 2000, Shell in Canada has invested more than $75 million in a wide range of initiatives in three main areas: Environment, Employees and Education.

Many of Shell’s people are local heroes, volunteering and supporting vital community organizations. We support the contributions of time and money that our employees, retirees and retailers/agents make in their community through two key areas: the Shell Community Service Fund and United Way.
Our investment in post-secondary education in Canada is based on a contribution of money, staff time and expertise. We also continue to support not-for-profit organizations delivering a range of educational programs to Aboriginal communities across Canada. Our goal is simple – to bring out the best in Canada’s students today knowing they will become the leaders of tomorrow.
We work to benefit communities close to our facilities and exploration interests by supporting initiatives that address social, health and other local concerns.
