Natural Gas Liquids
Shell Canada Limited is a fully integrated producer, processor and marketer of Natural Gas Liquids (NGL’s) and Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG’s). Shell’s current combined LPG sales of ASTM specification grade ethane, propane and butane exceeds 50,000 barrels per day.
Shell’s has extensive infrastructure and storage facilities in Ft. Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Sarnia, Ontario. Shell’s Ft. Saskatchewan facilities can process 12,500 barrels per day with associated spec storage of 430,000 barrels. Sarnia’s facilities can process 15,400 barrels per day with spec storage of 787,000 barrels. These facilities are baseloaded with equity production and incremental third-party volumes for optimum utilization. To complete our sales offering, Shell’s Marketing and Transportation department (M&T) also operates a large fleet of rail cars to provide reliable freight transportation services.

Ethane
Ethane is extracted from natural gas straddle operations and is primarily used as a petro-chemical feedstock. It can also be utilized in some miscible flood operations and enhanced oil recovery projects.
Propane
Propane is used for residential and commercial heating, auto-propane, industrial fuel applications and petro-chemical cracking. Shell markets to retailer, wholesaler and industrial consumers.
Butane
Butane is primarily sold to refineries for seasonal gasoline blending, MTBE manufacturers and petro-chemical cracking.Condensates
Shell Canada markets condensate produced from facilities across Canada.

The Thebaud Platform
Condensates are typically used for heavy oil diluent blends, refinery and petrochemical feedstocks. Shell’s current onshore production of condensates is approximately 11,800 b/d with total sales exceeding 18,000 b/d, comprised of conventional condensates, fractionated condensates and condensate produced from the Caroline gas plant. Condensate production from the Sable Offshore Energy Project in Nova Scotia commenced in 2000, adding 4,100 b/d to Shell's equity production in 2005.
