Michael Crothers, Shell Canada Country Chair and VP, Canada Integrated Gas

Effective January 1, 2018, Michael Crothers will take on lead responsibility in Canada for Shell’s Integrated Gas business which includes an interest in the LNG Canada project. Michael will have a dual role as both Vice President, Canada Integrated Gas while remaining Shell Canada President and Country Chair.

In 2017, he held the position of Executive Vice President, Oil Sands leading the organization through the oil sands divestment. Michael returned to Canada in January 2015 as Vice President, Unconventionals North America after spending more than three years as the Managing Director of Shell E&P Ireland leading the Corrib gas venture.
Michael joined Shell in 1987 as a Process Engineer and during that time he has built broad operations experience including roles in manufacturing, chemicals, supply, distribution, HSSE, unconventionals, and offshore wells. He has led large, complex operations, joint ventures and the development, execution, commissioning, and start-up of mega projects. Michael has led teams across Shell’s upstream and downstream businesses and his assignments have taken him to over 30 countries throughout Asia, Europe, Africa and North and South America.
Michael was born and raised in Calgary and graduated in 1984 as a Chemical Engineer with distinction from the University of Alberta. He and his wife are parents to three now-grown children and recently welcomed two grandchildren.
