Canada's Top 100 Employers project is a national competition that takes place each year to determine which employers lead their industries in offering exceptional workplaces for their employees.

“It’s such an honour to be named one of the top 100 employers in Canada, again this year,” says Shell Canada President and Country Chair, Lorraine Mitchelmore. “It speaks volumes to our success in attracting and retaining top talent, and that is critical to our capability to grow our business in Canada.”

Before being named one of Canada’s top 100 employers, Mediacorp editors evaluate each company on eight key areas:(1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Winners for 2013 were announced in The Globe and Mail on October 10, 2012.

Shell’s nomination is in recognition of its efforts to provide a superior workplace for its employees. Below are a few highlights of Shell’s selection:

  • exceptional financial rewards, including a share purchase plan, generous year-end bonuses, discounted financial services through the Shell Credit Union and even discounts on all Shell purchases made on a Shell BMO AIR MILES® MasterCard
  • a great community citizen that ranks among Canada's leading corporate donors, supporting hundreds of charitable initiatives
  • a unique meditation and reflection centre located in Calgary Place that is designed to meet all its employee's religious and spiritual needs

“By going above and beyond at Shell Canada, our employees have developed a sense of loyalty to the company,” says Mitchelmore. “On my visits to sites and in the office, I meet so many people who are extremely driven in the work they do and make such significant contributions to make our organization a success.”
