As part of our global promise to the development of new fuels, we aim to: meet growing transport demands.

With that in mind, we are excited to share with you the launch of Canada’s first retail hydrogen refuelling station in downtown Vancouver, in association with Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation (HTEC).

How does hydrogen fuel work?

Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles convert compressed hydrogen into electricity, powering the vehicle’s motor, while only producing heat and water vapour.

With a similar driving experience to that of battery electric vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles offer a direct alternative to those with conventional engines.

How does hydrogen fuel compare to regular gas?

Hydrogen-powered vehicles are:

  • Comparable to cars run on regular gas in terms of acceleration and general performance
  • Quick to refuel, taking between 3-5 minutes to fill your tank
  • Capable of a driving range of up to 700km without refuelling
