Michael Crothers Bio

Michael has a dual role in Shell. Since 2016 he has been the President and Country Chair of Shell Canada, responsible for maximizing value of Shell’s Canadian businesses. His line role in the international Shell organisation is leader of Canada Integrated Gas, connecting upstream gas to LNG and to marketing, which includes the venture team for Shell’s investment in the LNG Canada project. Other recent roles include EVP of Oil Sands, VP Unconventionals for North America and Managing Director for Shell Exploration and Production in Ireland.

Michael joined Shell in Calgary in 1987 as a Process Engineer and during that time he has built broad operations, commercial and stakeholder experience including roles in refining, Oil Sands, Chemicals, strategy, Safety and Environment, on-shore shales and offshore gas. He has had the opportunity to work internationally leading large diverse teams, and in complex operations and joint ventures including the development, execution and start-up of mega projects in Alberta.
Michael is a University of Alberta grad in Chemical Engineering and is married with three children. When not on an airplane, he enjoys hiking and cycling around Calgary.
