Starts: November 03, 2026
Ends: January 04, 2027
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. Shell® Win Fuel for a Year Contest (the “Contest”) is sponsored by Shell Canada Products (the “Sponsor”). Scene Limited Partnership. (“Scene LP”) is in no way connected to the management of this Contest or the verification of winners. All inquiries regarding the Contest should be directed to the Sponsor. The Contest begins at 12:00:00 AM Eastern Time (“ET”) on November 03, 2026 and ends at 11:59:59 PM ET on January 04, 2027 (the “Contest Period”).
1.AGREEMENT. By participating in the Contest, each entrant acknowledges compliance with and agrees to be legally bound by these official rules of the Contest (“Rules”), which are available online at www.shell.ca/freefuel (“Website”), including without limitation all eligibility requirements, and understands that the Sponsor’s decisions in connection with the Contest are final and binding in all respects. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, territorial and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law. Entrants who do not comply with any of the Rules are subject to disqualification by the Sponsor, in Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion.
2.ELIGIBILITY: To enter and be eligible for a chance to win, an entrant must (a) be a legal resident of Canada who has reached the age of majority at time of entry in the province or territory in which they reside, (b) be a registered member of the Scene+ Program with a Scene+ Program account (“Scene+ Account”) in good standing and (c) not be an employee of the Sponsor or its affiliated legal entities or agents, their respective advertising or promotional agencies, the Independent Contest Organization (defined below), Scene LP, or a member of any such employee’s immediate family (regardless of where they live) or persons with whom they are domiciled (whether related to the employee or not). In these Rules, “immediate family” means parents, siblings, children and/or legal or common-law spouse.
If you do not already have a Scene+ Membership, you may register for free by visiting https://www.sceneplus.ca/register and following the instructions. By enrolling in the Scene+ Program and/or your continued membership in the Scene+ Program, including if you keep your Scene+ Account open, earn or redeem Scene+ points in a Scene+ Account, individuals (“you”, “your”, “Member(s)”) agree that you have read and agree to the Scene+ Program’s Terms & Conditions (https://www.sceneplus.ca/terms-and-conditions) and the Scene+ Privacy Policy (https://www.sceneplus.ca/privacy), and understand that Scene LP may use your personal information for the purpose of providing the Scene+ Program and its benefits, which include the sharing of your personal information with third parties such as service providers, Reward Partners and the Owners of the program to operate and maintain the Program and for marketing and analytics purposes. For the purposes of these Rules, the entrant is the individual in whose name the Scene+ Account has been registered under, and this is the individual to whom the Prize will be awarded if they are selected and declared a winner.
3. HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST: There are two (2) ways to enter the Contest:
i. With Purchase: During the Contest Period, within Canada, at a participating Shell station in Canada (excluding Flying J locations), make an eligible transaction in which at least one Scene+ point is earned or redeemed across fuel, convenience retail or car wash and swipe (or key in) a valid Scene+ membership number at the time of transaction to receive one (1) entry (a “Purchase Entry”) into the applicable Weekly Prize Draw (see Rule 6). There is no limit on the number of Purchase Entries an entrant can make during each Weekly Contest Period.
ii. Without Purchase: To obtain an Entry without making a purchase, during the Contest Period, you may send a “free” Entry request on a plain piece of paper with your handwritten-print full name, complete mailing address (including postal code), daytime telephone number (including area code), valid email address, a minimum 50-word essay on “Why Shell is my preferred brand”, and mail it (in a separate sealed envelope with sufficient Canadian postage) to Shell® Win Fuel for a Year Contest, Dept. 4662, Box 9500 Lakeshore West PO, Oakville ON, L6K 0G4 (a “Mail-in Entry”). A Mail-In Entry must be post-marked during the applicable Weekly Contest Period and received prior to the applicable Weekly Draw Date (defined below). Each valid Mail-In Entry will receive one (1) entry in the applicable draw for the Weekly Contest Period in which that Mail-In Entry is received, in accordance with these Rules. There is no limit on the total number of Mail-in Entries per entrant during each applicable Weekly Contest Period, however each Mail-in Entry must be unique and must be received in a separate sealed envelope with sufficient Canadian postage (multiple Mail-In Entries in the same envelope are not permitted and will be void). No photocopies or other mechanical reproductions of Mail-In Entry requests permitted; each request must be unique, original and hand-written. The Releasees (defined below) are not responsible for late, lost, stolen, misdirected, delayed, incomplete, damaged, destroyed, late or illegible Mail-in Entries (all of which are void).
Purchase Entries and Mail-in Entries are each referred to as an “Entry” and are both referred to as “Entries”. For greater certainty, each eligible Entry will only be included in the applicable draw for the Weekly Contest Period in which it is received in accordance with these Rules and will not carry forward, roll over or otherwise be eligible for any subsequent Weekly Contest Periods.

4. WEEKLY CONTEST PERIODS: The Contest Period is divided into nine (9) periods (each a “Weekly Contest Period”) and they are as follows:
5. PRIZES: There are nine (9) Weekly Prizes (one (1) per Weekly Contest Period – see rule 4) available to be won, each consisting of “Free Fuel for a Year” awarded as follows: four hundred thousand (400,000) Scene+ points, with an approximate retail value (“ARV”) of $4,000.00 CDN. The total ARV for all the Prizes is $36,000.00 (CDN). The total number of Prizes available to be won will decrease as they are awarded in accordance with these Rules.
The earning, redemption and use of Scene+ points are subject to the Scene+ Program Terms and Conditions, including any applicable restrictions, limitations, expiry rules, account requirements and program changes that may apply from time to time.
Without limiting the generality of any other terms set out in these Rules, the following general conditions apply to each Prize: (i) all characteristics and features of a Prize, except as otherwise expressly stated in these Rules, will be determined by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion; (ii) each Prize must be accepted as awarded, without substitution, is not transferable, assignable, refundable, convertible to cash or for resale, and has no cash surrender value, unless otherwise permitted by the Sponsor in its sole and absolute discretion; (iii) each component of a Prize is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable issuer, supplier or service provider; (iv) the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to substitute, modify or replace a Prize or any component thereof with a prize or component of equal or greater value, for any reason whatsoever, including, without limitation, in the event that a Prize cannot be awarded as described due to unavailability, cancellation or circumstances beyond the Sponsor’s control, without prior notice or liability; (v) if a confirmed winner does not use any part of a Prize, then any unused part may, in the Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion, be forfeited in its entirety and, if forfeited, nothing will be substituted in its place; (vi) by accepting a Prize, each confirmed winner agrees to waive all recourse against the Releasees if the applicable Prize or any component thereof does not prove satisfactory, either in whole or in part; and (vii) the confirmed winner is solely responsible for all costs and expenses not expressly described in these Rules as being included with the Prize. A maximum of nine (9) Prizes will be awarded. Limit of one (1) Weekly Prize per person during the Contest Period. An entrant who is confirmed as a winner in one Weekly Contest Period will not be eligible to win a Prize in any subsequent Weekly Contest Period. Any Entries received or generated for that entrant after they have been confirmed as a winner, including any automatically generated Purchase Entries, will be void and will not be included in any subsequent Weekly Prize Draws.
6. PRIZE DRAW: A random draw for each Weekly Contest Period (each a “Weekly Prize Draw”) will be held on Thursday following each Weekly Contest Period (see rule 4 for Draw Dates) at approximately 10:00:00 AM ET (each a “Weekly Draw Date”) at the offices of Promotion Solutions (the “Independent Contest Organization”) in Oakville, ON from among all eligible entries received during the applicable Weekly Contest Period (see rule 5). Odds of being selected for a Weekly Prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the applicable Weekly Contest Period. PLEASE NOTE: Non-winning eligible entries will not be carried over into the following Weekly Prize Draw.
The selected entrants will be contacted by the Sponsor via email within two (2) business days of the applicable Weekly Draw Date. Sponsor will make a minimum of two (2) attempts to contact the selected entrant. If a selected entrant (a) cannot be reached by email and does not respond within two (2) business days of being contacted; (b) fails to correctly answer the mathematical skill testing question (see rule 7); (c) fails to properly complete and/or execute the Release Form within the specified time (see rule 7); or (d) is unable or unwilling to accept the Prize as awarded in full for any reason, then the selected entrant will be disqualified and another entrant may, in the Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion, be randomly selected until such time as contact is made by email with a selected entrant or there are no more eligible Entries, whichever comes first. It is the entrants’ responsibility to ensure that their information, including a valid email address and information associated with their Scene+ Account is up to date. The Sponsor will not be responsible for failed attempts to contact a selected entrant. Each selected entrant is subject to verification of eligibility by the Sponsor and compliance with the Rules before receiving a Prize, and the Sponsor’s decisions in this regard are final and binding.
7. CONFIRMATION OF WINNERS: In order to be confirmed a winner, the selected entrant must: (a) correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a mathematical skill-testing question (which may, in the sole and absolute discretion of the Sponsor, be administered by way of email, telephone, in the Release Form, or any other manner), and (b) complete a Declaration and Release Form (the “Release Form”) confirming compliance with the Rules, acceptance of the Prize as awarded, without substitution, and releasing the Sponsor, Scene LP, the Independent Contest Organization and their respective affiliated and related companies, advertising and promotional agencies, shareholders, directors, officers, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any liability in connection with a Prize or this Contest. The Release Form must be completed and submitted within the time period specified on the Release Form or the Prize may be forfeited. Upon receipt and verification, Scene+ point Prizes will be fulfilled, within four (4) weeks to the confirmed winners by the Sponsor. Each confirmed winner must have a valid Scene+ Account in good standing at the time of Prize fulfillment in order to receive and redeem the Prize.
If for any reason a selected entrant does not meet the eligibility criteria set out in these Rules, and/or does not or cannot accept a Prize, the selected entrant will be disqualified and deemed to have forfeited any claim to the Prize, and the Sponsor may, in its sole and absolute discretion, select another potential winner from the eligible Entries until such time as a selected entrant satisfies the terms set out herein. The Sponsor is not responsible for the failure, for any reason whatsoever, of a selected entrant to receive notification or for the Sponsor to receive a selected entrant’s response. Except as otherwise indicated by the Sponsor, the winner must take delivery of a Prize as instructed by the Sponsor.
If the identity of a selected entrant is disputed, the applicable Entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the entrant identified in the applicable Entry records maintained by the Sponsor, subject to the Sponsor’s right to require proof of identity, authority and eligibility, in each case in a form acceptable to the Sponsor.
For greater certainty, the selected entrant must sign the Release Form to: (i) confirm their eligibility for the Contest and compliance with these Rules; (ii) confirm their acceptance of a Prize as offered; (iii) release, discharge and hold harmless the Releasees from and against any and all manner of action, cause of action, claim or demand, loss or injury, use or misuse of the Prize or any travel related thereto, and the use of entries by the Sponsor, suit, debt, covenant, contract, including legal fees and expenses, whatsoever, including but not limited to, claims based on negligence, breach of contract and fundamental breach, failure of any third-party contractor or supplier used in connection with any aspect of the Contest to perform or deliver any goods or services, any act of God or any other event beyond the Releasees’ control, any dissatisfaction of any kind by a selected entrant with any aspect of the Contest or the Prize, liability for physical injury, death, or property damage which the selected entrant, their guest(s), heirs, successors or assigns have, might have or could have suffered, by reason of or arising out of the selected entrant’s participation in the Contest and/or in connection with the acceptance and/or exercise by the selected entrant of a Prize as awarded; (iv) indemnify the Releasees from and against any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to the entrant or any other person, including personal injury, death, or property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any element of a Prize (if received), participation in the Contest, any breach of the Rules, or in any Prize-related activity; and (v) grant to the Sponsor and Scene LP the right, each in their respective discretion, to produce, reproduce, publish, broadcast, communicate by telecommunication, exhibit, distribute, adapt and otherwise use or re-use the winner’s name, photograph, likeness, voice, and biography, in any and all media now known or hereafter devised, in connection with the Contest and the promotion and exploitation thereof.
8. INDEMNIFICATION: By entering the Contest, each entrant releases and holds Releasees harmless from and against any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to the entrant or any other person, including personal injury, death, or property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any element of a Prize (if won), participation in the Contest, any breach of the Rules, or in any Prize-related activity (if won). Each entrant agrees to fully indemnify the Releasees from any and all claims by third parties relating to the Contest, without limitation.
9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: Neither the Sponsor nor Scene LP assumes any responsibility or liability whatsoever for: (i) incorrect or inaccurate entry information that may affect a person’s ability to participate in the Contest or be awarded a Prize, including but not limited to human error, technical malfunctions, lost or delayed entries for any reason, mail failures, omission, or any combination thereof, and entries that fail to fully comply with these Rules; (ii) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (iii) lost, incomplete, delayed, mutilated or misdirected entries or releases; (iv) injury or damage to entrants’ computers or to any other individual’s computer related to or resulting from participating in, or downloading any material regarding the Contest or accepting a Prize; (v) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt or use or misuse of any Prize, including any related travel and the use of entries by Sponsor; (vi) the security or privacy of information transmitted via computer networks or for breaches of privacy due to interference by third-party computer hackers or otherwise; or (vii) late, lost, misdirected or unsuccessful efforts to notify a selected entrant.
10. GENERAL:
(a) The Sponsor reserves the right to terminate or suspend this Contest or to amend the Rules at any time and in any way, without prior notice. Without limiting the foregoing, if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, the Sponsor reserves the right to cancel the Contest and conduct a draw from all previously received eligible Entries. The Sponsor and the Independent Contest Organization shall not be held responsible for any problems, errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the Contest.
(b) Any attempt or suspected attempt to use robotic, automatic, programmed or otherwise illicit means to enter the Contest, or any other methods not authorized by the Rules, for example, but not limited to, creating multiple accounts, identities, or registrations, all in the Sponsor’s sole and absolute discretion, shall be deemed as tampering and may disqualify an entrant from entering, participating and/or winning a prize. Entries that contain false or incomplete information are automatically void. Entries that are late, lost, stolen, illegible, contain false information, are damaged, misdirected, mutilated, garbled or incomplete, altered or otherwise irregular or that do not conform with or satisfy any or all of the conditions of the Rules are automatically void. Entrants grant Sponsor a non-exclusive license to use all entries for any purpose. No correspondence will be entered into except with Selected Entrants. Proof of transmission (for example, screenshots or captures) does not constitute proof of entry or receipt of an entry.
(c) Without limiting the foregoing, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify any entrant found to be: (i) violating the Rules; (ii) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest and/or the Website in any manner or form; and/or (iii) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.
11. PUBLICITY: By entering the Contest, each winner consents to the use of their name, address (city and province/territory), postal code, voice, photograph and/or likeness without further remuneration, in any and all media now known or hereinafter developed throughout the world in perpetuity, in connection with any publicity carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor or Scene LP in connection with this Contest.
12. LAW: To the extent permitted by applicable law, all issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Rules or the rights and obligations of participants, the Sponsor or any of the other Parties in connection with the Contest will be governed by and construed in accordance with the domestic laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction’s laws. The parties hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts located in Ontario in any action to enforce (or otherwise relating to) the Rules or relating to the Contest.
13. PRIVACY: At the time of entry of the Contest, each entrant will consent both to, the Sponsor’s manner of collection, use and disclosure of their Personal Information for such purposes and in accordance to the Sponsor’s privacy statement (available at: https://www.shell.ca/en_ca/privacy.html.) and Scene LP’s manner of collection, use and disclosure of their Personal Information (see rule 2). Personal information collected from entrants as part of the entrant’s participation in the Contest, (collectively, “Personal Information”), will only be used by the Sponsor to administer the Contest in accordance with these Rules, and, only if consent is given at the time of entry, to provide the entrants with information regarding upcoming promotions and/or events from the Sponsor. This section does not limit any other consent(s) that an individual may provide the Sponsor or Scene LP in relation to the collection, use and/or disclosure of their Personal Information (including without limitation as occurs in connection with the Scene+ Program). Without limiting the generality of the foregoing and for greater certainty, by entering the Contest, each entrant consents to being contacted (including by email) by Sponsor for Contest-related purposes.
14. DISCREPANCY AND UNENFORCEABILITY: In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between these English Rules and any disclosures or other Contest-related materials, including the French version of these Rules, point of sale, or any advertising or communications (including abbreviated rules), the terms and conditions of these English Rules shall prevail, govern, and control to the fullest extent permitted by law. If any part of these Contest Rules is legally unenforceable or inapplicable, then that part will be deemed invalid; however, the remainder of these Contest Rules will otherwise continue to be legally binding.
