Shell Canada is one of the few truly integrated energy companies in Canada with all of Shell’s global businesses represented, including upstream, integrated gas, downstream, and renewables and energy solutions. That means we do everything from exploration, gas production, refining and manufacturing, to providing fuels and developing energy solutions for our customers.

ARC Resources, Canada

Shell has completed the acquisition of ARC Resources Ltd, a high-quality, low-cost and top quartile producer in the Montney shale basin – the same region as Shell’s Groundbirch asset in British Columbia and Gold Creek project in Alberta.

Scotford

The Shell Scotford Complex consists of a bitumen upgrader, oil refinery, chemicals plant and the Quest Carbon Capture and Storage facility.

Quest Carbon Capture and Storage

Located at the Scotford upgrader near Edmonton, Alberta, the Quest Carbon Capture and Storage facility is designed to capture and store CO₂ from hydrogen production.

Polaris Carbon Capture

Polaris will provide new carbon capture capacity for the Shell-owned assets at Scotford. Final Investment Decision was announced in June 2024 with operations expected to start toward the end of 2028.

Atlas Carbon Storage Hub

The first phase of Atlas, located near Scotford, will provide permanent underground storage for CO₂ captured by the Polaris project.

Groundbirch

Groundbirch produces methane, natural gas liquids and condensate. The natural gas produced from the Montney formation is situated 2,500 metres below ground, trapped within a mixture of siltstone and shale.

Gold Creek

An exploration opportunity in the Montney formation, Gold Creek is one of the most active resource formations being developed in Canada.

Sarnia Manufacturing Centre

Crude oil refined at the Centre helps meet southern Ontario’s transportation fuel needs, such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.

LNG Canada

Shell has a 40% interest in LNG Canada. The project puts Canada on the global map of LNG exporting countries.

Brockville Lubricants Plant

Shell Canada’s Brockville Lubricants Plant is the largest blender and packager of retail passenger car motor oils in Canada.

Foothills

Shell Canada completed the sale of the Foothills assets – Waterton, Jumping Pound and Caroline gas plants, associated wells and pipelines and the gas fields which feed them – to a subsidiary of Pieridae Energy Limited in October 2019.
