My name is Jen Pemberton, and I am the senior manager of fleet and routing for Alsco

uniforms.

Alsco is based in Salt Lake City. Essentially, we are industrial laundry. We have 83

branches between US and Canada.

I oversee our entire fleet operations, which consists of roughly 3,500 vehicles and our

routing operations, which is about 1,500 routes between the US and Canada.

My entire day is problem solving. Some of the biggest challenges, of course, is costs.

Everything from acquisition costs of a vehicle itself to maintenance costs, to fuel spend.

When it comes to fuel cards, what we are looking for is risk mitigation, having controls in

place so that we minimize exposure to any misuse.

Then also reporting, we need to be able to see that data to then reconcile those

transactions.

We were with Shell and we decided to switch to another provider that would match our

provider in the U.S. however, we were not getting the same level of security.

We weren't getting the same level of service from this other vendor.

Joanne and Jen shake hands and greet each other. They walk through the halls of the

Alsco office chatting. Jen and Joanne sit in an office and discuss business.

We quickly learned that we had made a mistake in that decision and immediately went

back to Shell. Going through that process of implementation and the new account

creation, that's when I met Joanne, who's our account manager for the first time, and

really throughout that whole process, that was the first time, I mean, even with any

vendor really, where I felt like not only is this just someone who's there for the warm and

fuzzies when you first start, right, like when new customer or reviving a customer,

whatever the case.

But I felt like we actually had the support that we needed.

My name is Joanne Loria.

I'm a key account manager for Shell Fleet Solutions.

As a key account manager, we help onboard new customers, support existing

customers.

And so, part of that is optimizing on their fuel spend, help growing their fleet, supporting

their fleet.

The Alsco team came to me with some challenges. Initially, it's part of my job to

understand exactly what they need.

So it's really digging in and doing a deep dive and taking a consultative approach.

They really wanted to set up their regional branches to have more control and flexibility

with the card, and visibility with reporting.

[Jen speaking]

What was really helpful is Joanne just asked the right questions.

She had done her research on the type of company that we are, how we use the fuel

cards, what we want to get out of the fuel cards.

[Joanne speaking]

Because the Alsco team is in the US And I'm in Canada, there's a lot of transactions

that happen that they may not have visibility into.

So I take that very seriously to offer insights into the market. Data to a company like

Alsco is, I think, very, very, very important that visibility.

We're not just sending them a report, we're not just sending them the data.

We're going through the data and helping them understand what the data means.

So, the insights and the action behind that data, I think, is also very key.

[Jen speaking]

Partnering with Shell, we're now seeing, at the corporate level, we're seeing at least

50% of our time back, as well as at the local level.

What that means for me is that it's one less thing I have to worry about.

I can spend my days and my attention on where it needs to be, versus looking at fuel

card reports and transaction reports, and certainly at the branch level, giving them that

time back.

They now can put their attention where it needs to be, which is servicing our customers.
